I have been trying to train them but what I am doing doesnt seem to work with one of the dogs. We have one Mini Eskimo, (My dog) and a Llasa Apso (His Dog) The eski is timid and shy but learns quickly and is pretty obedient. If I am trying to give the Llasa a command, the Eski acts like I am talking to her and starts to shake and freak out when I am repeating the command to the Llasa and she isn’t doing it. The Llasa just ignores me, stares me down or goes over to him and he lets her lay there and do nothing all day. So we need owner training tips too. On walks the Llasa pulls and has injured my shoulder and neck from pulling her back, and trying to teach her not to pull. The Llasa snaps at and bullys the other dog, and snaps at the hubby, kids and strangers. She has never snapped at me tho. She also eats everything in site and wants more. She is under foot when I am trying to cook. I trip over her constantly in the kitchen. She was fat when we first got her and has food allergies. She has seperation anxiety and cant be left alone. She sweats, barks incessantly, and defecates in the cage. She would be put down if we gave her to the Humane society, I know she will be a good dog with the right training.

Read Cesar Millan. Anything can be fixed. We have a very nervous dog too, but we are working on correcting her with Cesar’s techniques and she is better already.

My dog is a 13 month old GSD, he is allergic and we went to the vet about it when he was younger but all the vet did was giving us medication and special dog food to reduce the itching he gets when he eats normal dog food, we’ve tried many kinds of food, right now we’re on a “raw meat tube” diet, not sure what those are actually called but it smells disgusting. Anyway we’re thinking about going to a vet specialized in allergies to try and figure out what he is actually allergic against but it is expensive, what should I do? Should I keep trying to test food? Should I pay the vet to find out? is there any other option? Recently he started scratching himself around his eyes roughly enough so that he started bleeding, can anyone tell me how to “fix” that aswell? Other than “cutting his claws”(Not sure what you actually say in english)?

Your only real options are allergy testing to find out what he’s allergic to, or keep experimenting with different foods. It might not be a food allergy at all. If you haven’t tried feeding him a fish and potato based diet, try that, and remember that allergic reactions to food can take a few weeks to go away or to develop, and that you must be very strict about what the dog eats. If he gets the wrong stuff just one day, you have to start all over again.

Not my dog but friend inherited a 4lb apricot poodle. The owners said she was a Tiny Toy Poodle. (Which there is no such thing as a Tiny Toy Poodle. So she is a bred down poodle. I’m too nice when it comes to animals, everyone always comes to me for help. She is living at my friends house but has had no luck in finding her a home. lost her Grandmother and in the will she got the dog but she can’t keep the dog. She has an extremely DA Amstaff.

Dutchess is a great little dog, she has a solid temperment. She is good with other dogs, cats, and kids. The problem is she has a seizure disorder and severe skin allergies. She is on a grain free food and that keeps the allergies in check. As far as the seizures go she is on medication. So we are going to be hard pressed to find a home for this 8 year old little poodle with health issues.

Any tips at all for finding her a home?

We want to avoid her going into a shelter at all costs, but I can’t take her (I have a pit bull mix, who is not DA but I worry about having a dog that small around and I’m not really a poodle person and am not comfortable taking her on) and my friend is having to crate and rotate with the poodle and her Amstaff until the poodle finds a home.

So any tips at all in finding this dog a home would be great/

We are trying to find a shelter that will post a courtesy listing as well. And we’ve put an Ad on Craigslist but we are both weary about craiglist. Also there is an ad in the local paper. And a flyer at the vets office
We don’t want her in a shelter environment.

Re-training after major surgery

Ok, I need some major help. Here’s a little background. I work in a adoption center and I got my shiba from a puppy mill that was being shut down (the guy ended up in jail and lost his land YAY!!!). He was a puppy when I got him. We’ve been fighting allergies since he was about 8 months old, but, we put that on the “back burner” due to his knees. He was diagnosed at a 1 1/2 years old with luxating patella in both back legs. Class 4.5 out of 5 on the right and class 5 out of 5 on the left. Anyway, he was in surgery with in a month of diagnose. It took about 10 months and 3 surgery’s to finally fix the problem. As any shiba owner knows, they have a very wild personality. Before the surgery’s he was great with other dogs, good with strangers, even kids. After the surgery’s and being out of commission for almost a year, he has taken up the mind set of “I’m going to hurt you before you hurt me.” He is very timid around new people, and doesn’t give any dog a chance to get near him. He starts growling and if the other dog feeds in to it he starts bearing teeth and escalates from there. If, however, the other dog doesn’t respond at all, just ignores him, he’ll be bark and no bite and will even start playing with the other dog once he gets to know them. He’s turned into a very insecure dog.

After the knees got settled, we went back to working on the allergies (it’s very expensive and we had to move slow), and now he’s turning 3, the allergies got 100% worse to the point where he has to wear an ecollar 24/7. So he’s just miserable. And training has become very difficult when you can’t even give your dog a treat and he hates his hypoallergenic dog food. We’ve just started allergy shots, which can take up to 6 months to a year to work, so we’re slowly getting the allergies under control.

He’s now 4 years old. Now that we’re just getting the allergies under control, his left knee needs another surgery. It’s popping in and out again and has turned into a class 2 luxating patella, on it’s way to a class 3 (that knee gave us so much trouble the first and second time). My vet wants to wait a month or two and wait for the allergy shots to work more before we lay him up again. My concern is that he hasn’t really recovered emotionally from the last time, and he will regress more into instinct and become more wild.

PLEASE HELP ME HELP HIM!!

P.s. And take a lesson from me, DON’T BUY FROM A PUPPY MILL! All I do is hemorrhage money on him.

I Am Looking For Tips On Ridding Fleas From My Home.?

I gave my cat and dog sentenal for 4 years, There last pill was given Nov 1. They have been scratching for 2 months and the vet said they had allergies. On Sunday I discovered my dog has a tapeworm that you can only get from fleas. Two hundred dollars later they are both on deworming medicine and advantage to fight fleas. Although I don’t see any fleas, and no one is being bit by the fleas accept the pets, I know my home is infested because both pets have them. What are some of the best methods for getting rid of fleas in my carpets and beds and sofas . Do I need to worry about solid surfaces and how do I know when the are gone? I don’t want my pets infested again. What was the point in giving them the sentenal I wonder?
