Which dog foods & treats have no whey in them?

Question by debmichelle1972: Which dog foods & treats have no whey in them?
My 3 year old German Shepherd/Black Lab mix girl, Butterscotch, was recently diagnosed with allergies to cats, ragweed, & whey (she reacted most severely to this allergen). Her vet wants her on Science Diet, but I would like to research all sorts of options. Thanks!
We live near Chicago, IL.

Of course your vet wants her on Science Diet – they get comission for every bag they sell! Science Diet is not actually that great a food. I would try lots of different websites (someone is bound to say dogfoodanalysis, just remember its not the “god of all dog food sites”) and read the ingredients in each bag. You will find something a lot better for her, without all the cereals and additives and most probably cheaper too.

P.S Where are you located? Some foods can only be found in America, some in England etc.

Question by river85715: What all-natural, holistic foods and treats are best for my dogs?
I own to small poodles. I am interested in going all natural, herbal, holistic (whatever the proper terms are). My goal is to feed my dogs treats and foods that will be the best nutrition and serve as a method of preventitive health care. I want to prevent infections, cancers, allergies, etc, etc through the foods and treats I use. I have done some research and I am hearing about cranberries, blueberries, and coconut oils as treats. But I would benefit from the advice of people who are actually doing this. Please share with me your stories and experiences. What really works?

Well raw diets are the best for your dogs to eat but if you are talking about dry dog food then food from the Nutura company is the best they have Innova Evo, Orijen, California Natural, along with some other foods. Yes feeeding the berries you mentioned are great dog treats. I also like to feed carrots and apples as treats too.

Question by NemmaLie: Do you have a dog treats that contain little or no grain in them?
Hi, I was wondering if you had any low or no grain dog treat recipes that I could use? My friend and I are going to be holding a bake sale sort of thing near my local dog beach and at some parks near her house where we will be selling both human food and dog treats. We will then donate all of the money to the Humane Society (we were going to volunteer there but the humane society is full of volunteers, LOL!).

I want to sell treat that have little or no grain in them so that they are pretty healthy for the dogs, plus dogs with grain allergies could still enjoy the treats!

So, if you have any treats that you use or would like to use with your dogs, do you mind sharing them with me?

Thank You!

Emily
