Background- Six months ago, I moved and my dogs seemed to get fleas at the same time. I had to treat my new house for fleas. I am 100% we don’t have fleas anymore, they’ve been gone for months.
Unfortunately, from six months to 1 year old (since the move), my chorkie WILL NOT STOP SCRATCHING. She scratches her armpits, behind her ears, her face, and her neck until it’s bloody.
-tried changing diet…don’t think it helped
-only bathe once a month or less (could bathe more with medicated shampoo?)
-old house didn’t have carpet, new house does…allergy in carpet?
What can I DO? It tears me up to see her rip open her skin like this. I have no idea how to help her, and cannot afford to take her to an allergist.
I have another dog, and she never scratches.
I have taken her to the vet. She said without taking her to the allergist, she can’t really help me.

My Dog Scratches Herself Until She Bleeds?

i have a shih zhu. the vet said she has flea allergies. ive tried all different kinds of shampoos. they will all kill the fleas but when she goes back outside she has then again, alot of them. and ive tried the frontline and all that that you put on there back. and its works, it kills the fleas but it doesnt keep them away like it says it will. how do i keep the fleas away!!!!!!???? and even when she doesnt have fleas she scratches her self until she has huge sores on her and she bleeds. i feel so bad for her and i dont know what to do to keep her from scratching!!!!

My dog has recently been licking his butt until the area right above the hole is completely red and raw. He has also started sliding his butt across the carpet. He also chews and licks his paws constantly. I don’t know if these two things are related, but it is all he does when he’s not playing, eating, or sleeping. I have read about things that can cause this, but I know he doesn’t have fleas or ticks, and he goes on two walks a day and I play with him a lot so it would not be because he is bored. I have also changed his food to a really expensive natural brand, so it should not be food allergies. Has anyone experienced this with their dog and the reason was different than fleas, allergies, etc..? Thank You!
