Update. Are these signs of Lymphoma? I am freaking out please help!!?
Question by Mini Mon-Star: Update. Are these signs of Lymphoma? I am freaking out please help!!?
I am 20 and I went to my doctor on Monday for a lump or swollen lymph node I’ve had in my neck for 4 months (since last year December). My doctor felt it did some blood work to check for Leukemia or infection in my blood, referred me for a chest X-ray on Tuesday to check for Lung Cancer and gave me antibiotics and some nasal allergy meds and asked me a series of questions on my allergies(which I do have HORRIBLE allergies I am allergic to almost everything I have ALOT of environment and food allergies and I have indoor and outdoor allergies, plus I own a dog and I am asthmatic) Anyway, The same day I went to the doctor on Monday I woke up with a sore throat and congested nose and when I came home found two more swollen lymph nodes on the left side of my neck not to far from the Original big lymph node I went to the doctor for in the first place.
Anyway to get to my point the doctor wants to see me back in 2 weeks and if the lump hasn’t gone down or away he must refer me to an ENT Dr.(Ear, nose, and throat doctor). Soo to get to my point I feeling that same original lymph node that I had in the left side of my neck for 4 months and it feels flatter. I don’t know how to explain it, but it feels like it’s still there, but just flatter and slightly less able to feel like when I when to the doctor on Monday. Before I went to the doctor it was more shapely and a bit bigger. Like If I slightly graze my hand down my neck it can barely be felt now, but before I could feel that there was a slight lump if I grazed my hand a little. I don’t want to touch it to much because ever since I found it in December I was touching the lymph node every hour on the hour every single day. I forgot to mention right now I have a cough thats casing me to wheeze( I’m asthmatic and that usually happens when I get sick and develop a cough) and Im still blowing my nose a little and bringing up yellow mucus (sry to be gross)
What should I think? Could this be a sign its NOT the “C” word? My doctor hasn’t even gotten back to me on my lab results yet and 2 wks is a long time to be in anxiety, depressed and worried. It’s just the day I showed my doctor the lump in my neck he seemed a little worried and was trying to hide it which scared the HELL out of when I left his office, but he also seemed like he wanted to handle the situation gently and delicate and didn’t want to answer any of my questions at all or yet maybe.
The original lymph node was painless when I found it, but the two new ones hurt a little when I touch it.

Your chest Xray and blood work must have been clear so that’s why the trip to the ENT doctor would be in order. You didn’t mention having any other symptoms of cancer /lymphoma. Allergies can definitely cause reactions by the lymph nodes.
