Any idea of what these weird bumps on my face are?

Question by Anon.: Any idea of what these weird bumps on my face are?
So for the last two days, I have randomly had these tiny bumps all over my face and on the bottom of my ears/behind my ears. I have never had a breakout before, so I don’t know if it’s that. But they are mainly on one side of my face, and are tiny bumps that aren’t visible unless you look up close. When I feel my skin, you can feel them and it almost feels like dry skin (but it’s not). I haven’t been rummaging around in the forest, but I have a cat and dogs that do, so I don’t know if I could have gotten poison ivy from them or something. Could it be random allergy to something, poison ivy, or a breakout? Any ideas of what this could be. It doesn’t really itch or anything, but it just bothers me knowing i have weird bumps on my face.
I wash my face every day and usually don’t have pimples or anything (though don’t get me wrong, my skin isn’t crystal clear).

It’s probably just some form of acne. If it doesn’t go away in about a week then you should see a doctor.

Question by Mads: I am so ill… and it’s so weird… I have no idea what it could be. Helpp!!?
Last monday I had a dry-ish and sore throat, I didnt think anything of it other than it was probably allergies because the weather was getting warmer. The next day it was slightly more sore and I had a canker sore on the roof of my mouth, still didn’t think anything of it because that happens from time to time. By wednesday, my mouth had swelled up to an unreal size, i had pus-blister things on my tongue, and inside my cheeks, my tosils were red and swollen, as was underneath my tongue. I could hardly fit my tongue in my mouth. I also had a dull, barely there headeache and I had lost my appetite, not just because of my mouth pain, i had just lost all desire to eat. I went to the dr and i got tested for strep throat and mono, both tests negative. he said i was moderately inflamed and had a tonsilitis infection, i was prescribed a numbing mouth wash and sent on my way. my symptoms decreased more and more and by saturday I was somewhat able to eat more than liquid protein (mouth could swallow, not much of appetite). Sunday, I went for a jog. That evening I realized that my legs felt a little bit week like they were going to give out, I just assumed it was because i went running for the first time in a long time and it was in the cold (it had started to snow). That night I had to pull an all-nighter of studying and homework and essay writing for school, i laid down but never really slept. I felt very anxious and so i checked my blood pressure and pulse on my dads blood pressure moniter, my blood pressure was 129/80, my typical is 100-110/60 and my pulse was a whopping 136 bpms. I tried to relax before i had to go to class. i calmed down but i couldn’t stop my hands from shaking and my leg muscles from feeling weak and jello like. my mouth became very dry… felt like i was a dog with peanut butter on the roof of my mouth. that night, came home, nothing different, just realized that i hadn’t eaten anything more than a piece of toast in the morning but i still had no desire to eat. When i was getting ready to go to bed, i noticed that my face was all splotchy red and white, not like a rash but more like the way it looks when you get cold and its just all spotty and weird looking.. i looked down and realize all of my skin all over my body looked the same. i went to lay down and i couldn’t sleep. very shaky. despite my aversion to food, i forced myself to eat a banana and i drank plenty of water and gatorade. this morning nothing is different. my mouth is INCREDIBLY dry(cotton mouth status), i am very shaky, my skin is still all read and splotchy. I went to class this morning to take a test and my hands were turning blue when id aply pressure to write. my hands are very cold. my lips are so dry they hurt and are peeling. I checked my blood prssure and pulse, it is 127/82 and 107 bpm. I feel as though i have lost weight, i look visible thinner in my arms legs and more ribs are visible, my clotehs are fitting loose and my bras are too loose so i have to wear a sports bra. i weighed myself and i have not lost a single pound.

here are other observations, the dry mouth and cracking hurting lips made me think it was dehydration… i am drinking plenty of fluids… plus, i am a former bulimic, i know what severe dehydration feels like, no muscle cramps and my veins are not popping out of my arms.

my hands are cold and blue like they would be if i had low blood pressure but my blood pressure is much higher than normal.

when i put pressure on my skin with my finger, it looks like water RETENTION, but i am peeing just fine, pale yellow, and i am not bloated at all.

What could this possibly be? I am scared… I don’t do drugs or smoke… the last time i drank alcohol was last friday.

all of my symptoms, especially the blood pressure, cold hands, dry mouth, weight… jsut everything is so inconsistent with eachother. Please give me an idea of what ithis could possibly be… i can’t drive to dr i am scared and shaky

Help with a weird looking bug bite?

Question by Amelia X: Help with a weird looking bug bite?
I have this weird bug bite on the back of my left leg. I think it’s from a mosquito, since I saw one right before I got bit. I’ve had it for a couple of days and the skin around it developed a red, blotchy rash. Around that is a thick, pale ring. So, from the inside outward: bug bite, red rash, pale ring. It looks like the exact opposite of this, with the red and white reversed: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/8e/Bullseye_Lyme_Disease_Rash.jpg
Also, the bite is a bit smaller.
It DOES NOT look like a bulls-eye, so I’m pretty sure I don’t have Lyme Disease. Also, I have multiple bites like this, but the one on my leg is the worst (I got them all in one night, so I’m pretty sure they were from the same type of bug). From the middle of the mosquito bite to the edge of the white ring, it is almost 1 1/2 inches.
All of the bites have swelled up pretty big. They’re itchy and are sensitive to the touch. I have no other symptoms, except a sore throat that I got the same night I was bitten (however I think this might have just been allergies, and the sore throat is almost completely gone now).
I have very sensitive skin and I’m allergic to quite a lot (pollen, honey, dogs, mold, etc.) However, none of my allergies are fatal. Do you think maybe I got an allergic reaction to the bite? I’ve gotten mosquito bites years ago and they didn’t look like this! Could I have devolped some type of allergy to it?
The swelling seems to be going down a bit, but after that I noticed a white ring. I just want to make sure this isn’t serious or anything. If anyone has any ideas of what could be causing this, or some pictures, I would be very grateful. Thanks!
It looks exactly like this, but with a white ring around it. http://www.skinsight.com/info/files/image_upload/Bite1%20copy_2_0.jpg

Question by stargazer: my dog has weird red raised pimples w/pus near her wiskers and near her haunches and butt any ideas of cause?
My dog has small red raised bumps w/ pus in the center on her muzzle and back of her legs and butt. She is currently taking oral Ivermectin for another skin cond. called demodex(which is a non contagious form of ringworm that dogs are all exposed to from their mothers, but some dogs cannot fight it off and it causes small bald patches all over) This is totally unrelated and we cant figure it out. She is licking and biting at the areas and I give a bit of Benedryl to make her more comfortable. What is this, could it be an allergy? My son has two pet rats that play together w/ our dog and I’m thinking allergies to buck grease on the rats?

Question by Diana Rogers: My dog keeps getting this weird lump on her muzzle under the skin. it is hard and it does disappear.?
She is about 8 or 9 yrs old I got her from a shelter in 2007. She is listed as a fell terrier or patterdale terrier. Her name is Gracie. This lump appears and disappears. It is a hard lump on the top of her muzzle between her nose and eyes centered. She snores very loudly if that means anything. Please if anyone knows what it could be. I thought it could be an allergy or something. She has been getting this for years. I have brought it to the attention of the vet but she never has it when i take her there, and i cant afford allergy tests.

From your description, I doubt this lump is a symptom of an allergy. As soon as you notice it come up again, call your vet and get her in to have it looked at.

My Great Dane has something similar. My boss/vet did a needle aspirate and found the lump to be filled with clear fluid. Because of where it is on his face, it’s not really possible to have it surgically removed. Thankfully, it’s not harmful and doesn’t bother him.
