I saw a flea on my dog a couple of months ago, so we started her on Advantage. And since have not seen any fleas, or signs of them.
My dog swims a lot. And I have noticed she has a rash on her belly, where there was never a lot of hair to begin with. But also in random places on her coat. There are dime sized bald patches, that either have a little flat bump which has no puss, but is just red. She isnt really itching very much, so I dont believe they are itchy.
We did start her on a new food about a month ago. And I started using a different cleaner to clean my house.
The main areas that seem to been infected are her belly..and armpits. But has random ones on her body. I read that if it was a flea bite allergy it would be more on her hindquarters and base of her tail. But its not.
I think its something else. I have a vet’s appointment for Monday, but is there anything I can do at home for her? Bathe her anything that is safe?

I have a year and a half year old Cockapoo puppy. He has been to every vet around because he itches and bites himself all day long. He is on flea control Comfortis and has allergy shampoo that the vet has us wash him in twice weekly. We have also tried changing his food and no luck. Has anyone else had this problem with their dog and what did you do to correct it? Thanks

We went out of town last week and left our golden retriever with a friend who has two other dogs. He has been on Frontline for two years and has had the same food for almost three. Two years ago we found out that he had flea allergies, but since then everything has been fine. Both of the dogs he was staying with are on Frontline and their owner reports no fleas anywhere. I haven’t found any here at my place either.
Here’s the problem, he came back itching a lot, but nothing too bad at first. Then one day we woke up and he had itched his whole belly raw to the point that it was bleeding. We took him to the vet because it was time for new shots anyway. $350 later he is still itching. The vet recommended Benadryl, and we have been giving him 50mg three times a day, we also keep the raw area on his stomach covered. But now he is not eating, he is throwing up, he doesn’t poop, and everytime he goes outside he eats grass like a lawn mower. What is wrong with him?

My adopted lab/poodle mix is always itching her face and body and also licking her paws. My vet told me it is probably food allergies. I switched foods to a perscription diet which didn’t work. then I switched to a salmon and potatoe grain free food for the past month and a half. I don’t think it is food allergies! What else can it be……it isn’t fleas…..She was in the shelter for 3 months, could that have done something?
