I Don’t Know What Is Wrong With My Dog!?

We went out of town last week and left our golden retriever with a friend who has two other dogs. He has been on Frontline for two years and has had the same food for almost three. Two years ago we found out that he had flea allergies, but since then everything has been fine. Both of the dogs he was staying with are on Frontline and their owner reports no fleas anywhere. I haven’t found any here at my place either.
Here’s the problem, he came back itching a lot, but nothing too bad at first. Then one day we woke up and he had itched his whole belly raw to the point that it was bleeding. We took him to the vet because it was time for new shots anyway. $350 later he is still itching. The vet recommended Benadryl, and we have been giving him 50mg three times a day, we also keep the raw area on his stomach covered. But now he is not eating, he is throwing up, he doesn’t poop, and everytime he goes outside he eats grass like a lawn mower. What is wrong with him?

I have a bichon frise and a cairn terrier, they’re constantly biting at their paws. I was told that the bichon frise just did it ‘cos they’re nervous dogs, but then the other dog started to do the same.
We’ve put flea stuff on both of them and even given them suggested allergy pills.

Its flea season, he’s got bites, which are little tiny bald spots, but is it normal in fall for dogs to shed so much. My allergies are going haywire and I can’t keep anything clean. Its to the point where if you pet him you can a small handfull of white hair. Is he okay, and all this is totally normal? Is there a way to help him?
